Thing 7: Web 2.0 Communication Tools
Our library has just switched to Google Apps for Education and in exploring it and organizing, there seems to be lots of connectivity with other Google products. We also use Google Chat on campus and had been using it in the library for about a year before the switch. The availability of IM works well with Reference and ILL. Problems can be addressed easily and quickly. Personally, I use IM to chat with my sister who lives in East Africa. It's free and easy and instantaneous. We cover a lot of current topics in our lives, every day if we want. I recently attended a Minitex webinar on WorldCat Local since our library is moving to the ILS this summer. All in all, these tools have made it easier for librarians and patrons to make great strides in communication, with each other, and between colleagues.

Thing 6: Online Image Generator
This was quick and easy, but not fun needing to have another password account for 'big huge labs'. Lots of fun things to make on the site will make it worthwhile. My blog is getting full now. I love the website on generator blogs. There is a whole world of fun things to do that I never knew I had access to.

Thing 5: More fun with Flickr
I decided to use the 'spell with flickr' program and it worked very easily. I wish there was a way to arrange it on the page so that all the letters are in a line. I can't seem to get the layout right. Things can be moved up and down but not left or right. Sometimes frustrating. Page with Big Huge Labs is something I would like to come back and play with when I have time.
Thing 4: Flickr
This is a big world and it took me a long time to get to it. I only had time to upload one picture and post it to my blog. What a great tool though and I can see how much fun it can be to explore all the photos. I spent several hours searching and looking at library photos and book photos and looking at tags and everything was so interesting. The photo editor will be fun to try out, too.

Thing 3 : RSS Feeds
Really confusing at first. There are so many of them and so many directions to go. I was trying to post an entire rss feed on my blog, but I don't think you can do that. I found out that it's very easy to post parts of a feed on your blog. I've spent days looking at feeds and found it's best if I just stick with one good one, like Google. It's very comprehensive. I'll try more later.
